If you've decided you're committed with this hand, you want the money in as fast as possible. SPR is 4 on the flop meaning you can get it all in with 2 pot sized bets, snd that's what you want to do. Bet the pot on the flop, and then shove the turn. If he still calls and draws out with the straight, he made a mistake and you did your job. As played you kept offering him great implied odds to draw.

Hello,

When you describe a hand, you probably should go into more details :

- What's your image? How vilain looks like?

- What's the table dynamic? What's the history between you and Vilain?

- Why did you bet? why that amount?

- What was your plan before the flop? on the flop?

- What did you put Vilain on preflop? on the flop? on the turn? river?

If you want to base your analysis solely on SPR, it should go like that :

- SPR is 4 and you have top pair second kicker so you are commit

- you are commited so you want to put the money as fast as possible in the pot

- so I'd bet pot on flop 40$/45$ and shove turn

What's your idea on the river when the last card is not a club? Do you think a worst hand is calling you? What do you think Vilain has? Does he bluff missed draw?

Basically here you had it on the flop and you have been drawn out. This looks pretty standard to me.

According to your analysis though, I would probably go down several levels until you master completely the basic concepts. 10NL (0,05cts/0,10cts) or 25NL is better.

KQo is a bad hand to mess around raising with from the big blind. IF you are going to raise when there are so many limpers, you need to raise it hard, like 10 times the bb.

Personally, I would have either thrown it away and waited for a better spot, or just limped along with everyone else and taken a look at a flop.

I am not a good poker player, and am trying to get better. I have read both volumes, and am trying to incorporate the concepts into my game. I'd like to describe a hand and get feedback on whether I correctly applied the concepts of commitment and REM, and if not, where I went wrong and/or what other things I should have been thinking about.

$1/$2 live 10-handed. $200 effective stacks. I am in the big blind with K/Q offsuit. Several people limp to me, and I raise to $9. Four callers, nobody reraises. I conclude it is unlikely I am up against AA-10, and figure there are at least one or two people with small pairs or suited cards. I do not think it is likely that I am up against AK/AQ, but decide I am willing to go broke to those hands if I hit top pair. I decide if I hit top pair, I am committed unless there is an obvious flush that comes. About $45 in pot.

Flop is Q J 2 with two clubs. SB checks and I bet $30. Two callers. I am leery of any clubs. About $100 in pot.

Turn is 6 of spades. I bet $75. One fold and one call. About $250 in pot.

River is 9 of diamonds. I shove. SB thinks and thinks and thinks and calls with K-10. I go broke to the straight.
