I suggest you check out how the Billy Jex book handles passwords.  With that e-book, I only have to enter the password periodically (or is it enter the email I used to buy the book — don't recall for sure).

This would protect your book but not be such an inconvienience to your customers.  If you do change it, please notify those of us who have already purchased a copy so we can benefit by the more convienient (i.e. don't have to enter it every time like you do now) password system.
