Has the book been updated and, if so, is there a link for the download?

Instant Updating. Poker changes fast, and traditional books can become obsolete quickly. An e-book can be easily updated when necessary to stay cutting-edge.

I pre-ordered my copy on June 3.  The above point was (and is) listed as the first bullet under Why an E-Book in the pre-sales marketing.  As it's honing in on six months since I paid for SSNLHE, I'm starting to wonder about it (the book) remaining relevant.

I intend to print my copy as I have trouble reading off monitors.  If you've ever been to a book binder, you know how expensive that can get:  certainly more than I paid for the e-book.  So, at the risk of sounding bitchy, let me inquire one last time.

Are there any plans, now or ever, to update this e-book?

Hi LowWaterMark,

I have the new PDF with formatting for paper book printing on my computer.  We are waiting now only on Miranda to do a spine and back cover, then we will print books.  So updated PDF is any day Ed gets to pushing it out, and paper books are coming soon.  Printing takes maybe three weeks.  Distribution is my older son doing the mailing.  Nothing but first class all the way.

We also are completing translation deals into Russian, Italian, Spanish, and German.  We have verbal commitments, and I will be sending out contracts to two of those this weekend.  Possibly three.  We're waiting on the Russian folks to translate their contract.

Sunny has been working on a chapter of hands where we are the preflop caller.  Keep in mind he is unafflicted by the Protestant work ethic.  He is like a surf bum but without the board or the accent.  I respect this about him.

Eventually Ed will come out of hibernation and fix it all as he always does.

Matt

Matt,

Thanks for the swift response.  Thank god Sunny doesn't have that hipster dialect.  Whenever someone at Foxwoods says, "hey dude, what'd you have", there's this small, violent part of my brain-stem that wants to step on his sunglasses (while they're still on his face).  It's odd, because in all other facets of life, I'm happy to let people go their own way and whatnot.

So many things I don't understand about myself.  I like to hit on 18 for no particular reason and inform the dealer that I want a 3.  I don't think that's in Thorp's "Beat The Dealer",  but I'll check.

Thanks for the news re the updated pdf.

First, let me just add the disclaimer that my response is completely toungue-in-cheek and that I'm adding the disclaimer because of the troll problems that I just read about in other threads (people have entitlement issues I guess).  So I mean no disrespect when I write:

You mean, the Russians, Italians, and Spanish will have their hands on this book?!?  Geez, thanks a lot man.  Now I'll have to work harder to adapt.  This poker stuff was supposed to be easy money.

Oh, the irony of my statement above about others being entitled is not lost on me.  Wink

Seriously though, I don't know many authors that would update their work and deliver it out to those that paid for the first edition copies free of charge.  I appreciate it and hope that everyone else does too.

I hear Santa's sleighbells ringing and I think I see a red nose light high in the sky carving a path softly toward my house.  Is it possible that the reindeer driven sleigh has my update in the back of it?

I received an email with links to the updated versions today – thanks to Ed, (et ux?). You must have been working on this over the holidays to get it out today.

One question – how do I get Kindle for iPhone to access the compatible file?

I tried for several hours to get my Kindle for iPhone to read the PRC version, and I failed. I believe that it's possible to do if you have jailbroken your iPhone. Once you've done that, you can directly access the filesystem of the phone and copy the PRC file into Kindle for iPhone's data directory. But if you haven't jailbroken it, I'm not sure you can get the book onto Kindle for iPhone. (Lame, I know.)

On the iPhone you can definitely use Stanza (another app) with the EPUB version. I got that working with relatively little trouble.

I apologize for missing my own date on this one. :( Sorry about that.

I got it the Kindle version working (I am jailbroken).

You have to SSH into the phone.

Then find the folder that Kindle is installed in under “var/mobile/applications” (you will have to look around for it).

Put the .prc book in the “Documents/ebooks” folder.

Absolutely no apology required.  I'm enjoying my (new) pdf.  Thank you for the best $39 I ever spent.
