They definitely take an interesting betting line on that hand (I assume you are referring the QQ hand)
I like how they played the hand except checking on the river. As you said, very few made flushes would just check the river there (maybe a very low flush would), so you could probably safely bet the river for value. But then again, the only hands that would call or reraise your river bet would be 2 pair, a set or a flush, which all have you beat. As nice as QQ is, it's still just a pair. They took a safe road there on the river, in case they were killed.
It really depends on the opponent. If he was a crafty, tricky player, and you had been playing aggressive, he maybe could check the river with his made flush or set enticing a bet from you. If he was a nit/ABC type player, you could probably safely value bet the river after he checks. Maybe he would call with Jacks or Tens.
I think the overriding point of the hand was to show the freeze play in action on the turn (a turn raise to freeze up worse hands, but not pot commit you against better hands) A decent size river bet would have then committed you, thus negating the freeze play concept in this context.
In general, I would have maybe reraised big on the flop to take the pot down right there, to avoid flush draws or the villain spiking a lucky set or two pair on the turn or river. Interesting hand.
