I'd like to compute confidence intervals for my winrate as discussed on page 301 of SSNLHE. Do I need to modify the standard deviation stat in Holdem Manager or can I use it as is?

I don't know how Holdem Manager does it. Anyone?

I believe the SD stat in HEM does work. You probably just have to make sure you're clear on what unit they're measuring by. (I.e. – big blinds, PTBB's, etc)

Sunny/Matt,
I'm assuming one or both of you use HEM. I know you touch on it briefly in the book. But are there any reports that you run that you have found that really help to plug leaks in your game? It seems like the analyzation options are really endless. Are there any specific HEM options you find effective to help your game? Thanks!

i like to look at vpip/pfr/3bet/cbet/etc by POSITION. but honestly, nothing beats hardcore hand-by-hand analysis. going through a bunch of hands (with a coach if you need help with the analysis) is really the way to go.

Thanks Sunny. I have not been looking up hands specifically by position yet. Good idea.
I also look at the hands in which I lost large stacks/big pots. To see if I played them correctly, but just suffered a bad beat. Or if it was a strategic error that I could've avoided.
This helps me realize that some of the big losses were played correctly, just bad luck, and others were played badly. It's important to separate the two when trying to improve. I've discovered after a losing streak, the tendency is to want to do a major overhaul to your game, but often times you only need minor tweaks.
