First off, awesome book!

During my first read through I had a question from the Blind Versus Blind Flop Float example.

On pg. 165 in the chapter “Handling Opponent Aggression” a hand is discussed where the SB open-raises to $6 in a $1/$2 game and the BB calls with Kh8h. The flop comes Jh5c2s and the BB floats the SB’s c-bet.

The authors state that, “The BB could have raised the flop instead. . . You should mix your play up, sometimes calling in situations like this one, and sometimes raising.” They mention that raising denies the SB the chance to hit on the turn while calling allows the BB to gather more info before risking the amount of a raise.

This seemed like a great subject to expand on, and I was wondering what are some of the other factors that might lead you to choose floating rather than raising?  I’m thinking it’s going to have to do with board texture and your perceived raising range, but I was interested to hear your thoughts.
