I´m struggling badly with the 3bet/4bet/5bet game.
So maybe you can give me a hint wether I´m playing bad or running bad.
I have hand reading problems with their potential resteal 3bets.
Example: The game is NL100 full ring on Stars. 100bb deep.
It is folded to me in the CO, I have A9s. I open raise 3bb. Button is a reg who´s on the sLAG side of full ring, like 19/15. Over 460 hands, he has 3-bet 9% of his hands in general. In the big blind, he has 3bet 45% of his hands. Please note, I understand he is not in the big blind in this hand, but I think it´s a stat that gives us an idea of how he likes to play resteal situatuons, and more than that, one that I had on my HUD in the actual hand. Oh yes, and he sees me as a 16/14 probably and I steal a ton, but I fold way too much to 3bets (like 90% or so). I think it´s pretty safe to assume the villain understands all of this. I look down on my notes on him and they say that he "might bluff big". To summarize, this player is not shy and is in a resteal situation as clear as they come.
So, he 3bets to 10bb. I´m not sure how to play him postflop and decide to fall back on the 4bet shove.
I´d expect this to get a lot of folds and be marginaly profitable.
Now, he calls and turns over QQ.
My point here is that this happens way way way more than I think that it should. It is not just this hand, this is something that seems to happen like always. It´s a clear squeeze/resteal situation, their stats tell me they squeeze and resteal a lot, I 4bet and they show QQ+,AK like one third of the time. Am I going too fast? What am I supposed to wait for? 2000 hands? Or is this just bad luck? What am I missing?
EDIT: I´d like to add that both blinds were taggish player, leaning towards nitty, and thus unlikely to get in our way with anything but monsters.
