Seriously. Every time I try this so-called good advice of raising strong hands preflop, someone beats me on the flop, turn or river. If I raise enough to cut out any implied odds, I simply collect the measly blinds. If I try this crap of 3-5 bb, some fucker somewhere draws out on me. Value bet my ass. You really think you're value betting, but it's just spewing chips. Come on, I know other people out there have to be experiencing this shit. Is anyone going to step forward and admit this crap doesn't work at these stakes or is everyone in bed with the authors??????????????

Hi Rob,

1. This book wasn't written for micro stakes.

2. Collecting blinds is worth a lot more than you think.

3. Raising with the best hand preflop against loose inattentive callers is definitely positive EV.  If you are having that much trouble, play a 25bb stack.  That will cut their implied odds to negative even if you spew postflop.

4. Don't force AK or AQ postflop when you miss.

I have had this problem, but usually it's because I have one or two really loose passive players sat directly to my left.  The fish call, giving good pot odds and great implied odds to those sat behind who have position on the loose callers.

In these circumstances, you tend to lose most money not to the fish but to the guys sat behind the fish. They let you, the PFR, c-bet a big chunk of change into a pot that has been bloated by many pre-flop callers, and they can play perfectly; folding with nothing (losing 3-5bb) and stacking you (110bb+ with all the extra dead money) when they make two pair or better.

The lesson here is position really is important. More important than waiting for good starting hands, more important than being 'better' than your opponents, more important than you think.

And the solution is easy, it doesn't need a book. (1) Tag the fish. (2) Leave the table – there are better seats elsewhere. (3) If you see the fish again, make sure you sit on their left, never on their right.

That is all.
