I have a very specific mental problem namely I can only play my A game when I'm 100% percent focused, and thats only 2-3 hours a day. When I sit down unfocused I play my B game and just hanging around auto-piloting and donking money away. Does somebody have the same problem? Any solution or ideas how to change this?

yeah man, i can basically only 9-table for about 2 to 3 hours before my brain starts to lose focus and attention. if you need to play more than that in a day, maybe take long breaks in between?

If I would play like you 3 hours would be more then enough :D I would like to build my roll up for 200NL, so I have to play a lot. The joke is with my A game I crush 50NL-100NL but when I'm auto-piloting…

I use a timer for taking short brakes. Ive found that for me 50 min is optimal to play before I need a break. I take short brakes of maybe 3-5 minutes(just sitting out, not leaving tables) when I get up from the comp, move around and focus on something other than poker. Then Im ready to go for another 50 min. If I do this I can play long sessions and keep focus.
I use a timer called 1Time(google it), but theres others out there as well.
Try it out.

You're all light weights = ). I could (and have) sit there for a 12 hours session. However, that was lower stakes and I played pretty straight forward so it didn't require critical thought as laid out in SSNLHE.
Playing a more focused, intense, and higher stakes game, My max is like 3-4 hours.

Breaks will help a lot. When my concentration starts slipping, that's what I do too… sit out and take a quick break, hit the bathroom, grab some iced tea, mentally tell myself to refresh and recharge. Even just 5 minutes helps.
If you find you're hitting the wall at 3 hours, plan the break sooner than that. If it's 2-3 hours, plan one at the 2 hour mark. See if that helps.

Many great online players don't play for more than a couple hours straight.
I suggest laying out a strategy on paper. Start where your game is now and try and find ways the situation can be improved.
Example:
Suppose our hero presently: can 6 table for 2.5 hours at time without losing concentration and that = about 1k hands for him
his earn rate is 5bb/100hands at $1/2 and he can play 20 days a month Put this together and our hero plays 20k hands/month and earn $2,000. —————————————
But, our hero wants to do much better. So how can he improve upon that $2,000?
-By breaking each part of his game down and looking for ways to get more out of it.
How can he play more tables? – Improve his skills. Get bigger/more computer monitors. Learn to use a hud more effectively. Etc.
How can he concentrate on his game for longer periods?- Get more rest. More exercise. Remove sources of stress from his life. Eat healthier. Meditate. Use brainwave entrainment. Etc.
He can try and find sessions where he feels great and can play longer or days when he can do 2 sessions. Also, try different approaches- like standing up after 2 hours and running around the block- to see if they work to lengthen his period of concentration.
—————————————
This is just a tiny sample. Personally I find laying out everything like this to be very helpful and I have tried all the improvements I listed above plus many many more in my effort to futher my game.

I might suggest working on your B-game. Or as it is also known, lopping off your C-game.
http://www.pokerlistings.com/s…..our-c-game
You get rid of your really crappy play, and they play that is left is inherently better. Then you work on lopping off your "new" C-game. What happens in the end is that your "new" B-game is much stronger and you could auto-pilot with more success.
Never mind what happens to your A-game!! Maybe you wouldn't need to play anymore when in your B-game mode.

You are advicing people not to play their A-game?
What's with all these multitablers. I enjoy this book since it helps my game, single-tabling. And I found out it is optimal for me to take a break every 30 minutes.
Weird huh?
