This is a great book. It's really nice that the authors handle all the regs outhere and define a strategy to beat them cause thats the way poker has developed.

One question: On the button of P.25 we are stealing against at timid player who calls in the SB preflop. After we cbet the flop and gets a call, why shall we then give up?

The rest of the book describe how these players often will not invest 100BB with toppair and therefore we sometimes can keep on barreling. Its apparently not the case here, why?

That is an interesting one Henrik. Since the timid SB just check-called the flop (Q76 rainbow)….he could just be on a draw..low or middle pair…or top pair weak kicker, but I doubt it. If he check raised, then you could easily fold your steal attempt.

However, with just a flop check-call from the timid villain, out of position, you could be successful with another barrel on the turn or river, especially if a scare card comes up (or your ace). I don't think the authors ruled out barrelling the turn or river, they just did not discuss it in that hand, since it was really about stealing early.

On the other hand, if a tight/timid type called your preflop raise, and then called you flop c-bet, and is playing out of position, that usually means they have a good hand (that could mean KQ or AQ here, and any river/turn bluff may not get them off the hand)
