Poker Tracker, Hold'em Manager, or Poker Crusher? Any advice as to which is the best?

Never heard of Poker Crusher. I like Hold'em Manager, but I haven't used Poker Tracker in a year or so, so they might have improved it since then.

Yeah, I am kinda leaning toward Hold'em manager. I play on the Cake network but they don't allow Hold'em manager or PokerTracker. Mind if I ask what site(s) you play on ?

HEM is adding Cake support for tracking soon. You won't be able to use a HUD still, but it will track all the hands you play.

I've used both and much prefer HEM. I like the interface better, it seems a little lighter, the filtering options are more accessable, and their support staff is much better than PT3's. I only play on Stars these days and the HEM team is always right on top of any updates Stars makes that conflict with the program, usually releasing an patch within 24 hours.

Yeah, I used PT2 for three years, then I gave HEM a try – and never even opened PT since then … HEM is the nuts.

Btw – afaik Poker Crusher is no tracking software in the original sense but a data grabber which runs in the background and steadily collects hands from numerous tables at a given limit – to build a database from opponents you never personally played against. The problem is, that at least PokerStars strictly forbids the use of tools Poker Crusher (it is even mentioned by name in their policies). Don´t know about the others but I guess it´s the same …

Has anyone tried Poker Office?  The latest version came out a short while ago.  Does anyone have an opinion on how it stacks up against PT or HEM?  I tried PT3, but it didn't have the HUD (at least I couldn't figure out how to get it).

I too use HEM now, after years of PT 2.  In fairness to PT I did not try PT3, which I hear is very good, but HEM is the nuts imo, I like the interface better and the HUD is far better than PAHud was, it's not even close.  I'm very happy with HEM.

PT2 > PO

PT3 > PT2

HEM > PT3

Although PT3 is quite a jump from PT2, it lacks the intuitive interface of HEM.

I work for PokerTracker and don't use HEM (just to be upfront) but PT3 has improved hugely since a year ago so comparisons from then really aren't applicable any more.  I won't 'advertise' – I bought the book and I'd like to be able to continue to use this forum..  Wink

Cake recently changed their stance on trackers and PT3 will be adding support as one of the next couple of sites too.

If anyone is having problems with PT3 (or wants help with it's use) I'll be glad to help, although you would be better visiting the official website/forum (I won't post a link as I'm sure that would be frowned upon, but it's not hard to find).

I upgraded to PT3 before I had ever heard of HEM…so I have never used HEM and therefore can't compare the two.  I am only moderately computer literate so initially I had a real problem figuring out how to configure the HUD…but I was persistent and it took about a week and I finally understood how to “program” the HUD and then found it to be a very flexible and useful tool.  As you move up in stakes and different stats become important it is flexible to add or subtract stats as you need.

While I haven't used PT3's HUD, the HEM HUD is extremely intuitive to set up, probably would have taken you an hour figure out everything and get up and running.  I'm not kidding.  The menus are very intuitive.

Hi WhiteRider,

Don't worry, a little advertising never hurt anyone. :)

Sounds good. I have both HEM and PT3 so maybe I'll download the latest PT3 patches and give it another whirl.

OK, great!

I'm glad everyone can be sensible about this..  Smile

I won't be on this forum as often as I'd like, but if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask – as I said before, though, you'll get quicker support by visiting our official forum.

Hey WhiteRider any way to get PT3 to give a report on my 3-barrel stats.  In the section on line balancing (sorry don't have the book with me so no pg number but it's at the end) the authors mention looking at your 3-barrel attempts to figure out how often you do it without a made hand.  Just thought that since you're the PT3 expert you could come up with a fast and easy way to calculate this number.

Thanks for any help you can give.

BTW I own HEM and PT3 and I haven't used HEM (except at Bodog) since PT3 solved all the early crashing problems.  For me at least PT3 > HEM so I always recommend people try both and decide based on their own opinions.

I'm not sure this thread is the place for this sort of discussion – maybe the authors might want to create a support thread for each tracker?  Alternatively, post in the forums at http://www.pokertracker.com (since Ed seemed to be saying he didn't mind me linking).

Anyway…

You could filter for this situation so that you only see stats from hands where you 3-barrel in the reports.

Click the Filters button the on the Actions tab enable the Cont. Bet option for each street.

If that's not the sort of thing you were after, let me know exactly what you want to do (but elsewhere, maybe).

Getting only the hands where I 3-barrel is the first part but doing some analysis on how often it's done as a bluff vs. with a strong hand is what that particular section is discussing and what I'd really like to get out of the software.

Since this directly relates to a section of SSNLHE I doubt there should be a problem with doing this here but if so just delete my posts and I'll take it elsewhere.

There's a filter section for Made Hands too, so you could filter to situations when you had (or didn't have) certain strength hands on any particular street too.

I'm in the process of putting together a tutorial on combining filters but I've had a busy day and need to fit it in amongst other things.

If there is a particular filter you'd like to build I'll use it as an example?

Well the particular one I'm talking about here would be the 3-barrel line described on pg 294 of SSNLHE.  Basically what I would want to get out of this filter is how often I take the bet-bet-bet line with TP or worse and compare it to the total number of times I take that same line.  In other words I'd like to get the percentage of times my bet-bet-bet line is with a weak hand for that line.

If you read 294-295 I think what I am asking for will make sense.

I'll have a play around when I have some time – there are a few different options for how to do this, depending on how you want to view the stats, but I need to see how it will work best.
