This question is about my post flop processes, not the unending “How to play AA” ad nauseum posts.

The game is 1-3 live NL. Caveat: been playing online exclusively last 16 mo.’s, easing back in to live play, 2nd outing. The game is playing fairly deep stacked, I had just lost a big hand (45bbs) AK top-two over QT flopped straight. Still have 103bb’s. UTG has just sat down 5 min. ago, has about the same. EP2 and BB have more, so 103bb is effective stack.

I only bring up previous hand because it factored into my thinking and I wonder if I was on quiet tilt (the only kind of tilt I have).

I’m in SB with AA, UTG raises to 5bb, Ep2 calls, I reraise to 16 bb’s. BB thinks awhile then flat calls. Utg folds, ep2 calls.

Thinking: I usually repop to 20 bb’s here, but thought it might look like I’m on tilt from previous hand (though I wasn’t, I got away from it and he flashed his hand to me, so I’m feeling pretty good I think) and UTG would come over the top. Think the flat call by BB killed any chance of that.

Pot: 53 BB

I have 87 BB (effective stack). Flop is Q52, all clubs. My AA is heart and spade.

Now I’m thinking, slightly card wise if one of callers playing 2 suited cards, and most likely a suited A with a 16bb reraise, obviously clubs or diamonds. But equally likely would be Ac with maybe K of another suit with nut flush draw. Draw much more likely than flopping a flush.

My biggest fear was actually a flopped set of QQ by BB, though mine looked enough like a squeeze I thought at least 50-50 he would have come over the top. Checking seemed like an idiot move, if I check raise a big bet I’m giving odds to a draw, or I’m giving a free card. And a ¾ or pot-sized bet, with stack sizes, what am I going to do if I get raised, fold? Raised by a flush draw or even AQ ( it is 1-3 after all).

With 2 players I remember that changes pot-commitment some, but still I have SPR of 1.6 : 1 so I shove. Some guys just can’t fold nut flush draws, and might figure their Ac is an over card if I have KK.

Was shoving nuts with that flop against 2 callers. I honestly wasn’t sure what to do. Figured I would err on side of aggression if I was going to err.

But, right on wrong, was my thinking sound?

Thanks for reading, kind of long. JC

Jamleeco,

I don't like your preflop thinking. Too fancy. This is a low-limit live game, you've already got a 5bb raise and call in front of you, you only have 100bb, and you have to act first on the flop. Make it 20bb to go.

Postflop you can't check, and therefore you can't fold at any point. Shoving is ok, particularly given the fact that they might think you're on tilt. Yes you'll be crushed some small percentage of the time – c'est la vie. But you'll also get called by a lot of hands you have plenty of equity against.
