U guys say 13 is the worst spr mathematically to withstand 3 big bets with top pair and a good kicker i'm thinking.
So if i open 89 off on button vs blinds and hit top pair and spr is 10 i'm thinking i will get all i if i dont know my opponent well enough to change my decision from saying that mathmatically he cannot beat my top pair in the long run when spr is ten.
If i saw that he only checkraised the flop 5% or less, same percentage of making two pair on flop, then i would fold vs a checkraise on the flop.
Sklansky says to check back either the flop or turn when u do not want to see a checkraise. He does not specify between possibly doing this with diff stack sizes.
'I've concluded maybe that…
Since u usually dont want to see a checkraise with top pair on the flop when spr is esp over 8 or more then it makes sense to check flop here.
If Spr is under 8 seems to make sense to bet flop with intention of calling down a cr and future bets since mathematically they cannot beat your top pair in the long run cuz spr is under 13.
Check turn after making flop bet unless u think your opponent is loose enough andwill call down an 8 spr with a worse top pair and also to help balance your check turns when u are weak so your opponent can not always donk bet the river on u out of postion usually in this case knowing your are usually weak when u check back the turn.
Does this logic seem to make sense? In the book u guys say 13 is the worst spr but then mention something about 8 being bad meaning that most opponets will not bet or call 8 spr's without at leastt two pair or tp / top kicker.
And maybe that looser opponents like myself correctly call spr's of say 12 or lower if i do think the player is actully capable of firing a 3rd all in river bets on a bluff cuz many many opponents seem not to be capable of doing and usually are not going to beat them often enough when getting the usual 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 on their river bets.
