I just placed an order through Amazon for _ Professional No-Limit Hold 'em: Volume I_.

What specific additional material is covered in this e-book that _PNLHE_ does not cover?

Thank you,

The short answer is online games and tough games.  The long answer is really, really long.

If you play loose live $1-$2 PNL1 is what you need.  If you play online $1-$2 (or aspire to win at online $1-$2) then SSNL is what you need.

If you are a student of no-limit or poker in general, get both.

Will,

You just purchased the greatest poker book ever written….period.

I haven't read or refreshed myself on PNLHE in a while (but I've read it at least 5-10 times), but PNLHE covers the REM (range, equity, maximize) process in detail.

The authors than introduce a concept called SPR (Stack to Pot Ratios) which is simply a tool to help make commitment decisions.

Then they put allot of it together with some hand exmples which are extremely helpful and inciteful.

This is just the jist of it and they have allot more in it than I just mentioned.

One thing I would say is that the concepts in PNLHE are the primer for beating cash games like 1-2 and 2-5 NL (this is just my opinion, but one I think many would share).

This e-book REALLY focuses on beating tough games, like 1-2 online six max which is what the e-book is focused on.  However, the e-book really expands on the REM process allot………in fact I would go as far to say that every move in all of poker and explained in the e-book is based on the REM process.  Surprised

However, you don't need to have read PNLHE to buy and understand/study SSNLHE…..but it would definitely help I'd say.

"You just purchased the greatest poker book ever written….period."

Change that to "greatest cash game poker book ever written" and you won't get much argument from me, although, in my opinion, "No Limit Hold 'em: Theory and Practice" gives it a run for the money. Those two books are definitely the #1 and #2 cash game books (in whatever order you choose to put them in).

I haven't ordered the ebook (yet), but what I'm reading here sounds like it may have a place with those two.

Hi,

I'm considering buying the book but I'd like to know one thing first. Ed Miller wrote on his blog:

"We already have some beta versions of the book finished for reading on devices such as the Sony Reader, the Kindle, and the iPhone (and more). When v1.1 is done we'll put some time into polishing up these versions so they look even better on your device."

Do you have an ETA for these versions of the book ?

Thanks.

Will,

I play live (predominantly 1-3) and .25-50 on-line.  NL cash and full ring. All full ring. I bought SSNL and I have already found it useful. Yes, there is material I won't use directly at this time, but I have alreay come across some situations, one live, that are right out of the book.

But read and reread PNLv1 first. Small stakes live is always bad, but not always loose, and sometimes loose in different ways. Of course, PNL will get you the money, but when you are comfortable I would go the next level, this book. It will help your game, whatever it is.

Disclaimer: When it comes to poker knowledge, I'm a bit like Tool Time Tim Taylor.  More, more, aaaarrrghh !  Too much overkill, arrrgghh. More is always better, whether it's power for tools, poker chips, or poker knowledge, you can't have too much  Smile

I mainly play online, just started low stakes cash games (6 max and full table)  recently from tournament play (.25/50 usually) Should I start with PNL? or got directly to SSNLH first?

Personally, I'd prefer reading PNLHE first, mainly because you'll probably understand certain concepts mentioned in SSNLHE such as SPR and commitment better, but I'm not sure there's much of a downside to reading SSNLHE first.

Just read both, in whatever order.
