The books by these guys is the basis behind how i play poker since i've read them as well as

nl by ed miller and sklansky.

Anyways just got my full tilt cash games hh on pt3.  I won 180k but paid 115 in rake.. over 185k hands.. won 4bb/ 100.

4 bb 100 is generally pretty strong right playing mostly 1/2 or better???

Well rake took 60% of my profits and nobody who writes poker books even one has one lengthy chapter about the impact of rake on various limits, samples stats from players, etc etc

when i think there should be tons of info written by poker authors about it.

So why did u guys not write a lengthy chapter ? may i ask? mike

Also i'm tired of paying high rake fees i've started a group of people who want to ban together and support lower cost sites available as we speak.  The site i play at gives 100% rakeback.. and i've personally won over 30k there.  I'm  not kidding.. email pokermonster29@yahoo.com for info if you hate rake also.  I'm starting a group to fight high raking sites.

Think of it like this:  Imagine the game wasn't raked but you paid $60/hour for internet access.

Same thing.

Rake is utterly brutal and an insane drag on the poker economy.  Big live tournaments are even worse because the players put up the money and are charged by the casino and by the federal and state governments huge amounts.  20% of the pool ends up being paid in taxes.  That 20% vig is what killed horse racing in this country.

I do feel rakes have to come down if internet poker is going to survive long term.  Either that or the owners somehow get the money back into the poker economy.  The latter is how high-raked home games survive: they either run infrequently or the owner loses the money back into the game.

#1 way a typical mid-level player can improve his game is to get a prop account.  #2 is sign up for rakeback.

P.S. Nice earn!!

Thanks so is 4 bb very strong? Be interesting to know what average winners bb/100 is.

Also since rake takes 50 to 100% of a winner's profits… why no chapter about it? And a good word for sites like betraiser.com and wsex which both offer great deals and are the best value.

I have no affliliation to those places just would like to see games get going there.

wsex- offers 100% rakeback currently for props

betraiser – charges only 10% on winnings at cashout.  - 80% off or so Stars/ Tilt's model.

So why don't u guys write a chapter next possible book and mention ways we could make poker more profitable by supporting some lower cost sites.  I guess u worry about people getting ripped off at them but so far wsex.com has paid me 30k and got paid 5k by betraiser.com very quickly thru click2pay.

Hi Mike,

You're dead right about rake.

It would've been a nice small chapter for SSNL.  If we do an update we'll put it in.  We do not have another book planned.  Ed plays partly for a living but has moved on writing-wise to fiction.  Sunny plays professionally as always but is far too into hockey.  And I'm writing patent applications and playing poker as my night jobs (I'm a dermatologist).  We all make more from playing than we are likely to from writing a new book, and the novelty and excitement have worn off.

Yeh sure would bge nice if u mentioned wsex.com and betraiser.com and any other lower cost sites that emerge.

As well as bascially telling people that rakes are so high that online poker is almost a scam and the only people "winning" are the poker sites.

So that way they might wake up and realize that WE HAVE TO  support lower cost sites to have a chance at making money at poker.. not losing it.
